Pantheon is pleased to welcome Dr. Richardson as our new Chief Science Officer

We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Curtis J. Richardson has joined Pantheon as our Chief Science Officer.

Dr. Richardson is North America’s leading peatland ecologist. As the founding director of the Duke University Wetland and Coasts Center, he has spent over four decades pioneering research on wetland ecology, carbon storage, and restoration, with a special focus on pocosin peatlands of the Southeastern U.S.

Since convening the first pocosin conference in 1980, Dr. Richardson’s work has shaped how the world understands the climate, biodiversity, and fire-prevention value of these unique ecosystems. His research has shown that rewetting drained peatlands removes massive amounts of carbon from the carbon cycle, enhances resilience, and creates thriving landscapes.

At Pantheon, Dr. Richardson will guide the scientific foundation of our projects and ensure our restoration delivers the highest-integrity climate outcomes.

We are honored to have his leadership as we scale the restoration of these vital carbon sinks.
