Pantheon welcomes Steve Apfelbaum as our Chief Restoration Ecologist

We are thrilled to welcome Steve Apfelbaum to Pantheon as our Chief Restoration Ecologist!
Steve is one of the most accomplished restoration ecologists in North America. As founder and retired Chairperson of Applied Ecological Services, he spent four decades contributing to more than 25,000 projects across the world — spanning river restoration, wetland science, fire ecology, and water quality across hundreds of watersheds.
Steve founded and continues to lead Applied Ecological Institute as a nonprofit to build on his legacy and advance the field of restoration ecology. AEI works with Pantheon and will now work closer with Steve serving as Chief Restoration Ecologist.
A prolific author and thought leader, his writing includes Nature's Second Chance, named one of the Top 10 Environmental Books of 2009 by the New York Times. He is a Certified Senior Ecologist, Honorary Fellow of the Ecological Society of America, and served as a Visiting Lecturer at Harvard's Graduate School of Design for 12 years.
At Pantheon, Steve brings the depth of a career spent at the intersection of ecological science and real-world restoration practice — helping ensure that every project we develop reflects the highest standards of ecological integrity.
